Radio 1 Live Session

Rory McConnell from BBC Radio 1′s Introducing show asked us to come in to the Blackstaff Studios on Monday to record some live tracks for his show. The results are here! bbc.co.uk/radio1/rorymcconnell. Being close to our new recording sessions we decided to perform two new songs in addition to Kings Have Fallen, and all three really blew us away. We should have the recordings available shortly, but for now please listen again to Rory’s show on his website. Check out the blurry picture….

Chris and Alan setup for our Radio 1 session at BBC Blackstaff studio

The main studio at Blackstaff is like a giant hangar, but with some cunningly positioned foam boxes and a lot of curtains there’s no reverb, you could be in the cupboard under your stairs… anyway this excellent sounding room made the recording process all the more enjoyable, as did the dedication and enthusiasm of recording team Davy, John and Trish. Thanks to them and Rory and assistant Steven for having us along :-)

Balcony TV Acoustic session

myself and Chris (and Pauline) braved the elements the other night to play a jolly acoustic version of our song ‘Green’ on a balcony of an apartment in Dame St, Dublin the other night… the results are as follows!

don’t forget, we’re playing the Menagerie with Panda Kopanda and Barry’s Electric Workshop this Friday 2nd Jan :-)

CMU Unsigned Pick

I just came across this nice little mention about us on the CMU Music Network:

03.11.08: ESCAPE ACT
Belfast trio Escape Act recently completed a MUZU TV session in Dublin, though that’s not the reason we are tipping them, though it does mean we’ll be able to plug them again later in the month when the results of that session go online. But these guys definitely deserve your attention right now. Single release ‘God Says’ is a good start, though the Springsteen-aping arena stomp of ‘Cabin Fever’ is their best offering, meeting the ethereal Brit-rock of Doves with the melancholy, shoe gazing vocals of Teenage Fanclub. If this sounds like your thing then you’ve no reason not to explore, particularly given that they’re giving away their album, ‘Loosely Based On Fiction’, entirely free through various channels.

check it and other tipped bands here: http://www.cmumusicnetwork.co.uk/unsigned/index.html

new Escape Act Muzu.tv channel

after a successful, enlightening and entertaining day at the HWCH festival yesterday we’ve set up our channel at MUZU.tv

for now we’ve popped the groovy God Says promo up there, but expect more soon!

pics from the Phantom FM session

we’ve added some pics of the session we did on Phantom’s I:Con show to our facebook page. We’d like to thank Lynn and Cathal for having us! you may need to be a facebook ‘fan’ to view them…

we’ve also confirmed another Dublin gig, September 18th at McGrudders, Thomas Street, promoted by Dublin Underground.
