Acoustic Coffee
hey folks, we did a cool wee show last night at Charlies Coffee Shop in Bradbury Place. Expecting a stool in the corner whilst the punters munched on cakes and supped their lattes, i was surprised to find an eager and attentive audience in the dimly lit refuge away from the miserable weather outside.
A very entertaining Paul Corrigan was already on stage when i arrived, he has a great voice and in addition to his own tunes, gave us great versions of Grace and Stairway…
Chris kicked off our set with a few solo tunes, starting with ‘Flat Ocean’ – a plaintive, soulful tune that we’re working on for recording sessions next year. This was followed by ‘Silly Things’ and ‘Laid Open’. I joined Chris on stage and we got stuck into ‘Folded Arms’ – another new tune we’re working on, and have played live a couple of times. It was fun to play the stripped down acoustic version and the folks seemed to like it. Thereafter confusion reigned briefly as we started ‘Green’ – with me hilariously neglecting to start at the right point, however I got it together and it worked really well.
Afterwards, Chris enjoyed the warm atmosphere and some great covers from Niall Harden, including a really nice version of Dancing in the Dark by Bruce Springsteen.
It was great of Paul (Cutaways) and Gerry (Charlies) to ask us to play and i think we’ll come back again soon, but most of all the audience really made the evening special.
