Just back from a nice wee trip to Dublin and the studios of Muzu.tv where we recorded two tracks. Hopefully these should appear on our channel (alongside God Says below) in the next 2-3 weeks. Thanks to Alex, Andy, Eoghan, and Marty for having us.

The trip also gave us some time to talk about our plans for recording again next year, with an initial session booked for March. We’re really excited about the chance to go back to Chem19 and record more music with Andy, this time armed with a lot more knowledge and even more preparation to make the most of it. Chris has been refining ideas for new songs which we began demoing in earnest this week. I’m personally planning an advance trip to check out the kitchen and assess the frying pan situation…

So stay tuned for more news on that front and maybe a few sneaks peeks of demos, plus t-shirt and badge news too.

Acoustic Coffee

hey folks, we did a cool wee show last night at Charlies Coffee Shop in Bradbury Place. Expecting a stool in the corner whilst the punters munched on cakes and supped their lattes, i was surprised to find an eager and attentive audience in the dimly lit refuge away from the miserable weather outside.

A very entertaining Paul Corrigan was already on stage when i arrived, he has a great voice and in addition to his own tunes, gave us great versions of Grace and Stairway…

Chris kicked off our set with a few solo tunes, starting with ‘Flat Ocean’ – a plaintive, soulful tune that we’re working on for recording sessions next year. This was followed by ‘Silly Things’ and ‘Laid Open’. I joined Chris on stage and we got stuck into ‘Folded Arms’ – another new tune we’re working on, and have played live a couple of times. It was fun to play the stripped down acoustic version and the folks seemed to like it. Thereafter confusion reigned briefly as we started ‘Green’ – with me hilariously neglecting to start at the right point, however I got it together and it worked really well.

Afterwards, Chris enjoyed the warm atmosphere and some great covers from Niall Harden, including a really nice version of Dancing in the Dark by Bruce Springsteen.

It was great of Paul (Cutaways) and Gerry (Charlies) to ask us to play and i think we’ll come back again soon, but most of all the audience really made the evening special.
